Lighting Pre-Visualization

See the show before the first truck rolls.

What previs does

We build your venue, set and lighting rig in 3D in Capture, using the same Vectorworks model as the plot, then program the real looks against it from a grandMA2, grandMA3 or Hog show file. Clients and directors can walk the room, sign off on looks and catch sightline or rigging problems while changes are still free. By the time we load in, the hard decisions are already made.

What you get

  • A 3D model of the venue, staging and lighting rig
  • Programmed looks and cue sequences
  • Rendered stills and video walkthroughs for client approval
  • A programmed show ready to take on site, which cuts stage time

Who it's for

Corporate producers who need to show a client the look before they commit, directors who want to block against the lighting, shows with short load-in windows, and projects where the design team works remotely.

Remote previs, anywhere

Previs happens off-site, so it works for projects anywhere. The show can be designed and approved from Atlanta and executed wherever it lands, in the U.S. or overseas.

Questions

What software do you use for previs?

Capture, driven from grandMA2, grandMA3 or Hog, with the venue and rig drawn in Vectorworks.

How long does previs take?

It depends on the size of the show. Send the dates and the scope and we'll give you a schedule.

Do I need venue drawings?

They help. If there aren't any, we can build the model from photos and measurements.

Can previs files go straight to the console?

Yes. That's the point: the looks we program in previs are the looks we bring to site.
